Due to the location of the mine they experience vast difference in temperatures. It is not uncommon to have 30'C in the summer time and a fall below zero during the winter.  As a result, heat tracing of pipe within the complex is essential. 

The original installation was planned and installed by an overseas mining development company. Trace used was not of a high grade and as a result faults were starting to appear.  

To date we have installed over 300 metres of self-limiting cables (26w/m). This has been installed only where the cable on essential services i.e. eye wash / safety showers, caustic cuircuits and solution lines. 

We have also installed approximately 1500 metres of DTIP 10 Cable and estimate that another 1500 metres of trace on site which will eventually require repair or replacment. In addition to this the mine is always expanding as further mining permits become available.  The name DEVI is also now on store stock register for order of heat trace along with being in the equipment manual for the site engineers.
